Free Reg 2.....is Free Reg 1 still available
« on: Wednesday 16 September 15 11:18 BST (UK) »
Ive used Free Reg for a long time and have been impressed with the information available.
Telling my cousin about it she finds she can only get Freereg 2 and was disappointed that the records weren't as good.
A
Looking at names on Freereg 2 only gave the minimum information whereas on Free Reg 1 you could click on a name and you could get birth and baptism date, church ,parents name and job and witnesses. Not in all cases but this information and the ability to click on a name has disappeared.

I agree with you, Ringrose.

I thought I was missing some obvious step when I inadvertently got into FreeReg2 recently. I was pleased to find FreeReg1 still existed with its extra information as you said. But for how long?

Does anyone know if there's a reason for version 2 to have less info?
Seems odd when it's always been such a great site.

To paraphrase 'If it ain't broke WHY do they have to "fix" it?' ::)

Hi

With FreeReg2 just click on the word Detail in the right hand column for additional information. The couple of entries I looked at had the same information on FreeReg 1 and 2.

The info was being in putted into freereg 1 by transcribers and then transferred to freereg 2. This was
To make sure that freereg 2 was working properly. The last I heard was that freereg1 was no longer going to be updated but transcribers are still logging into freereg 1 to input as freereg 2 is n't ready for us to log straight into but is very near to that. They will let us know when. As I understand it info which is input by 12 midnight should be able to found on search the following day. There's things which have to be changed in data , codes etc .
Any suggestions re search facilities should be able to be emailed from the freereg home page.
