trying to find out about margaret doyle
« on: Tuesday 22 September 15 17:49 BST (UK) »
im trying to find the whereabouts of my nan, margaret doyle, who came over from ireland around 1912 and was maybe settled in shroeburyness for a short time.  we havent really got much to go on, but believe her birthday may have been 31st december 1896 or 1902.  she was brought up in  a convent in ireland, and we are desperate to find out where she went in england before she finally settled in stratford where she died in 1968

if anyone can help us we would be extrememly grateful

thanks
beverley and sheila

You say she finally settled in Stratford. When was this?
It would be useful if you'd give all the information that you have got about her time in England  :)

from what we know, she arrived in shoeburyness and worked briefly there but had a bit of a bad time there so left and moved to london, we dont know any of this history at all and is what we are looking for, but she married in 1934 and lived in stratford, at numerous addressess, she had three children...a son first who  sadly died as a baby, then my aunt, and finally my mum was born in 1937.  we know all about her from the date that she married but would love to find out what happened to her between her arriving in england around 1912 and marrying in 1934. we wondered why she was so old when she married.  my mum also remembers her telling her of jobs she had in hornsey at some point. thats all we really know :-\

no i know suz but yes her middle name was kathleen, we are trying to find out what happened to her prior to the stratford days.
if you can help at all we would be so grateful.

in the irish forums we never found any margaret doyles with the middle name of kathleen, but i will post now just to see if it changes any of our findings there.
many thanks
