Hi, I can see your Thomas Potter on the 1901 and then the 1891 census. In the 1891, he is single (a "Clerk in Merchant Office"), with his brother William ("Assistant Master Grammar School") and their mother (a widow) - named Mary Ann Potter, who is aged 52, a "School Caretaker", born in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales (RG12/2224/34/3). They are living at High Street, Kinver.

In 1881, they all appear at the same address, with the addition of elder brother Samuel, an "Iron Worker" (RG11/2790/49/15).

In 1871, prior to Thomas's birth, the family are located at the same address. Joseph Potter - the head of the family and husband of Mary Ann is alive, aged 40 (b. 1831) and born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. I think his occupation reads "Plumber & Glazier - Master". The children listed (siblings of Thomas) include: Clara, Elizabeth, Samuel and William. (RG10/2928/70/15)

In 1861, the family of Joseph (Plumber, Glazier and Painter) and Mary are on High Street, Kinver, wih eldest daughter Mary (aged 4) and Clara (0) (RG09/1985/76/21).

So, suggest you are looking for a marriage for Joseph Potter and Mary Ann sometime before 1857 (say 1854-1857). I suggest this could be Joseph Potter m. Mary Ann Bunker in Q4 1855 recorded in Stourbridge District (Vol. 6c, page 272) - as there is a baptism for a Mary Ann Bunker in 1837 (which ties up) on 5 March in Llanover, Monmouthshire. Father is Samuel Bunker.

Hope this helps you on your way.
