Frederick BAKER
« on: Thursday 24 September 15 10:42 BST (UK) »
Hi,
In 1907 Lily Mary Peters (from Hartlepool) married Frederick Baker in Portsmouth and that's the last we know of him. By 1908 Lily was living with Max Samuel (a Royal Naval Stoker of Russian descent) and had a child Philip, was he Fred's or Max's, we don't know. 1911 census shows Max and Lily to be married but in actual fact they didn't marry until 1915 in Portsmouth which could possibly mean they had to wait 7yrs to say Fred was presumed dead.
We are unable to find any trace of Fred Baker after his 1907 marriage, so is anyone researching Baker family who might be able to throw any light on the situation oc is anyone able to find him.
Any info will be gratefully received

The birth certificate for the child might confirm who the father was - when was he born?

This could be him seeing as it contains both surnames!

Philip Peters Samuel Dec 1908

Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

As Fred Baker is a common name it might help to give details from the marriage certificate - his age , father's name , his  and his father's occupations etc which might help someone to recognize this particular Fred Baker.

Hi,
CB53        Obtaining the certificate is our next step if nobody has a connection but as we are all pensioners we are trying the free roots first.

MILLIEPEDE  You have the correct Philip and its because he has both surnames we are thinking that Fred was the father although lily and Max were living together by then we are hoping someone from the Baker side might be able to throw some light on to the situation
thank you both for your time
