I am trying to find the birth of one of my wife's ancestors Blaney (or Blayney) Cherry who gives his birthplace in the 1871 England census as Galway, Ireland.  I would be grateful for any information.

I can't easily find him in 1871 census in www.familysearch.org. How old was he in 1871? (it helps if you give full details)

Added- I did find this Blaney Cherry born in Galway in 1861 census in Nottinghamshire-

Hi,
I had a search around for you in Galway.
In the Tithe books and Griffiths Valuation there wasn't any Cherry listed for County Galway.
But in the 1901 Census there was see below....
Cherry William Ganybreeda Loughrea Town  Galway 70
He was born in County Galway.

I know these were related to the Cherry family from Tipperary as they went to Canada and I did some work for a lady out there. Did your family go to Canada?

If the 1861 record I found is correct then Blaney Cherry was born c1811.

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
