NHS number on birth certificate

Have received a certified copy of an entry of birth from the GRO and it has an official NHS number typed on it. Does this always happen with people that have been adopted ? x
Payne, Woodchester Glos / Kings Norton Worcs.
Luker, Glos.
Davis, Smith, Evans, Lockstone,Latham, Kings Stanley.
Bingham; Stroud, Glos.
Gore: Glos/ Plymouth.
Rodway: Woodchester, Glos. Wanted Henry Rodway born 1849. Missing since 1881.
Morgan: Nettleton Wilts / Stroud Glos.

Just asked my husband who was adopted and there's no NHS number on it

Just asked my husband who was adopted and there's no NHS number on it (early 1980s)

I have one on my short birth certificate and I'm defo not adopted according to my full birth certificate.
Williams, Owens, Pritchard, Povall, Banks, Brown.

I have 2 copies of my birth cert. The full version doesn,t give the NHS number, but the short one does.
A bit surprising as I was born right at the end of the war & the NHS didnīt come into being until 1948.

I can't find my adoption certificate just now but checked my son's birth certificate from 1978 and that has NHS number but he isn't adopted.

Found it! Not on my adoption or long birth certificate but is on my short certificate , that was the 50's.
