James Collingwood
« on: Sunday 18 October 15 18:46 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to confirm the identity of a James Collingwood, born 24 Nov 1850 in Birmingham, England.
In the 1861 English census he was living with his parents James and Mary.   After 1871 I can find  no further record of him.

In the 1910 Holyoke, Mass census there is a James Collingwood age 60, born England, married 37 years, immigrated 1875, occupation dyer (alpaca).   Wife Sara age 61 immigrated 1885.   Daughter Emily age 34 immigrated 1886.   Other children born Pennsylvania and Massachusetts

James Collingwood, age 63, arrived Liverpool, England 21 Apr 1913 on the Franconia from New York City.   He departed Liverpool on the Mauritania on 31 May 1913 for New York.

I'm hoping to find any evidence of his place of birth and/or immigration to USA.

Dave

This appears to be the death record for the James Collingwood in the 1910 census. The death certificate list his POB as Bradford,  England.

A 1922 passport application for Sarah Collingwood says her late husband James was born Bradford, Yorkshire, England and he resided in Holyoke from 1873-1919.  This also gives a different date of birth and place for that James than yours:  http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=132227542

This appears to be the marriage record for them. Other records for the children indicate Sarah J's maiden name was "Mcfarlane". Marriage year matches what is stated on the 1900 census for them.

The evidence suggests that it's not 'my' James Collingawood.   Thank you for your replies.
