 thank you for your reply.  John Hughes died age 53 on 9 March 1908 so he must have been born before  March 1855!

There are nearly 40 John Hughes Birth Registrations in the Anglesey Registration District, between 1853 and 1855! :o
And 89 John Hughes if you include the RD's of Bangor and Caernarfon, both of which include parishes in Anglesey.

You need to provide a lot more information! ;D

Where was he, and who was he with on the 1861, 1871 censuses?

Do you know the names of his mother and father? Where was his place of birth?

Hi

This what I have. Living in Bangor in
1881 census age 26, 1891 census  age 36, 1901 census- age 46. He was born in Bodffordd [parish of Heneglwys}  Can't find him 1861 or 1871    Can't find him in 1854/55 in Heneglwys parish Baptism registers.!

I have a marriage Cert
 John Hughes,  stone  mason married Sarah Jones November 1876 in Carneddi Chapel  Bangor.
John Hughes's father was   John Hughes  Railway Police constable.

Perhaps the family were non-conformist?
So a baptism could have taken place at the Calvanistic Methodist Chapel, Gad?
Or the Welsh Independent Chapel, Sardis?
Or even at Llangefni, which is just 2 miles away?
