Finding out about somebody's military career?
« on: Monday 09 November 15 18:53 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I'm wondering if anybody knows of a way that I could find out about a relatives military career without actually knowing anything about it? I remember being told that he was in the army or something but I'd love to find out what exactly it was that he did. His name was David Wright Haggart born 1922 in Cowdenbeath but he always went by the name 'Gene', I don't know at what age he started using this name though  :)
Molly

Ancestry service records are free to search today, just pop his name in, the date of birth will help
Primarily Startup, Dickson & Cranston, with branches in baggs, Cheetham, Keir, Fosyth, Marshall & Logan. Regions mainly Scotland & the borders & Greater London area.
Many Naval ancestors and connections to Canada & American.

I think their records are mainly up to WW1;  Mollyrobz's person was born in 1922.
