« on: Thursday 12 November 15 09:29 GMT (UK) »
According to the web site, Cwmgelli cemetery opened in 1896. Where would someone who died in 1868 in the Landore/Graig Trewyddfa area have been buried please?

Thankyou, will check that out. It could be where they got married in 1863 and the Marriage cert states The Parish Church of Llangyfelach.

The Swansea 'town' cemetery back then was Danygraig which, from memory, opened in 1856. Big place...

Thanks Bernard. I went down to the Swansea archives yesterday to look at the Llangyfelach records but had no luck in finding my man! I know that further done the generations of this family they were Baptist's so we thought of Dinas Noddfa but the records for there are out at the Bookbinder so will have to wait 'til next year.

Whose Burial are you looking for Gwen?

If you give names and dates... someone might be able to find something for you.

Romilly.

It's a long shot Romilly! I'm looking for my husband's g g Grandfather, Rees Evans, born about 1838.I've got his marriage cert to Mary Ann Morgan on the 17th of October 1863 , his occupation is given as Silverwork Man. His father is given as Rees Evans a Copperman. His eldest son, Thomas was born Jan 1864 followed by another son,Rees, about 1866. They lived in the Graig Trewyddfa area. The first census siting of the family is in 1871 - Mary Evans is a Widow boarding with her son's. I'm looking for a death for Rees (born 1838)

I've started by looking at deaths between 1866(just before the birth of the youngest son,Rees) and 1871 when Mary say's she is a widow. There is only one Death on free BMD during that period,1868,for a Rees Evans aged 34. The age is out by a couple of years though. That is,assuming that Mary WAS a Widow!
