My mum was very close to her grandad William Wetton and as he was Quaker, she had not attended his funeral so a couple of years ago, I managed to find his final resting place in Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol. Due to his religion, the plot was in unconsecrated ground . Although the headstone did not mention William,(his ashes were scattered there) his mum and his wife were buried in the plot and we also made another discovery.....
There was reference to his son Edgar Gerald Wetton who died from wounds recieved in action on 11th Sept 1918 aged 19 and was interred in France.
Mum had never heard of her uncle Edgar as he had died 12 years before she was born.
I did a bit of digging and found out Edgar was a Private in the Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry - service no 34767 and although where he fell is known or what wounds he had recieved , there is a memorial to him at Vis-en-Artois France.
Below is photographs of my Mum Valerie visiting her beloved grandad William Wetton's grave where we found out about his son Edgar.
My uncle gave me a photograph of Edgar which was taken in 1916 when he was 17 years old (just 2 years before he died)
This is the only known photograph of Edgar.
