Hello.
Thanks for the PM.
As far as I know there are no SHARPIE members in our tree going back over 220 years.
While I have done a lot of genealogical research into my forbears, I also do a lot of research into our old pioneering families, and Agricultural Heritage, items I'm interested in. Being a small population, many did also have some distant connection by marriage.
I took an interest in Archive held papers re the above name, as there were several William SHARP's and several Thomas SHARP's, in early Auckland and I was trying to sort out who were, and were not related. Early Sharp and Sharpe families arrived in NZ from both Scotland and England.
One William SHARP was one of the early [1850] settlers of what is now Ellerslie. Auckland. They got their start by leasing available land off the Colonial Office in Auckland. Many of whom made a go of farming and made a name for themselves, which live on in Street and Park names etc, and as the movers and shakers, of early progress in the provisioning of Auckland's swelling population.
