Hi Peter

Here they in 1851 in Burford

William Hill Hd m 27 Ag Lab born Chipping Norton
MAry Hill aged 22 born Burford
William Hill Son 6 born Burford
Elizabeth Hill aged 4 Dau born Burford
John HIll aged 11m Son born Burford
William Smith Lodger Un aged 23 born Burford
John Hill Lodger Wid aged 86 PAuper Ag LAb born Burford

- from Buford marriages 1844 May 25th
William Hill (x) of full aged lab s/o John Hill - lab to
Mary Smith sp minor d/o John Smith LAb

I would think that the John Hill who who is lodging with them in 1851 is in fact Williams Father and that William Smith is MArys brother

Hope it helps

I think I might have found Mary for you in 1841 census:

HO107/872 -17 page 31
Residence Burford (looks like Mr. Wallers Farm, but not too clear)
John Smith, ag lab, 40
Hannah, 40 (not born in County)
Mary, 10

Mary seems very young to have got married only 3 years later, but as Debbie has indicated she was a minor  and only 22 at the 1851 census.
Regret no sign of the Hills though.

Hope this helps

Stuart
