Great Grandparents
« on: Friday 01 January 16 16:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi would love somebody to be able help me.
I'm struggling to find my ggmother on any of the census
Her name was Sarah Mariah Davies born 1891?? Not sure if this date is correct as I have her marriage certificate where her age is 26. She married an Owen Parry on 04/06/1911 in Merthyr Tydfil.
I have her father listed as a Daniel Davies (deceased farm labourer)
She was living in 13 Brynteg Terrace at the time of her marriage.
Thanks Sarah :)

Hello,

Have you checked this lady out from 1911 indexes? https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWX7-R27

She is Sarah Maria on another index.

Regards
Heywood

Thanks I think this is the right one. They must have her age wrong on her marriage certificate.
Thanks Sarah  :)

Hi Sarah,

If Sarah Mariah Davies married aged 26 in 1911 then that would give a birth year of 1884/85 & there is therefore this birth on freeBMD:

Davies, Sarah Mariah; March Qtr 1884; Merthyr T Reg Dist; Volume 11a Page 483.

I also wonder, although her father Daniel is shown as deceased by 1911 (on marriage cert) whether he in fact died by 1891 as census wise (familysearch census) there is nothing showing for a Sarah Mariah Davies with a father Daniel who was a farm labourer. I wonder therefore if the following death record on FreeBMD is your Daniel's?:

Davies, Daniel; June Qtr 1890; Age 28; Merthyr T Reg Dist; Vol 11a Page 337.

There are it should be noted, several other Daniels in the death index in the same registration district, but mostly 20 or more years older.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

David

Edited to add the age at death as I forgot to add it earlier! Sorry! ::)

How old was Owen when they married,if he was much older maybe she moved her age up a little so she didn't appear too young for him.

Hi Owen was aged 25
I have them on the 1939  register living in Merthyr but not sure now if this is them.
There is also a Hadyn on there aswell and I know that they did have a son by that name.
They also had a daughter Madeline born Oct 1913
Thanks Sarah  :)
