Hi Kitching,

There are images on Family Search, although the entry for the sykes marriage does not show you can
access the image.

However this is a connection to Family Search Register for All Saints, Derby.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-DTM3-KJS?wc=34JF-82D%3A1581159903%2C1581160101%2C1581161011%3Fcc%3D1911752&cc=1911752

Details are All Saints, Derby Baptisms, marriages, burials 1712-1807 (vol 2).

It will take you some time, to find the actual marriage.  However I think at this time neither the
bride or groom were required to sign.

Hi kitching,

Just had a good look at the connection I gave you, and after 1754 Marriages were entered in a
separate book - which is not available on family search.

They do have Marriage banns.  This will not apply to Sykes/Eley marriage
because they married by Licence Phillimore Marriages has this entry:-

Marriage 7th June 1787 All Saints Derby
Robert Sykes of Parish of St. Peter, Nottingham.  Mercer and Draper, Widow and Catherine Eley
by Licence.

You could try the Record Office, Lichfield to see if the Licence has survived.

However being a Mercer & Draper think you can assume he would be able to read and write.

This is a connection to the Phillimore entry:-

These are the details of what Family Search have available on line for All Saints Derby :-

Baptisms, marriages, burials 1558-1712 (vol 1)

Marriage banns 1754-1795 (vol 4A)
Marriages 1837-1848 (vol 14)
Marriages 1848-1860 (vol 15)
