Earwaker
« on: Monday 11 January 16 22:46 GMT (UK) »
Good evening, I have Earwaker's in my tree and a real mystery to me.  I have Christopher Earwaker born  1894 married to Emily West 1914 St Nicholas Church. They had a son Frances Eric Earwaker married to Irene Ingham - 2 daughters Pamela 1940's, Maureen 1950's and Irene's daughter Brenda Ingham 1940's. I visited the grave of Christopher Earwaker and it says "in memory of him by loving wife Agnes and daughter Maureen" The Maureen on the grave isn't the Maureen whose father was Frances.  The Maureen on the grave married Gerald Sinnott in 1956 they had 5 children 2 sets of twins. In 1959 Agnes was living with her brother in law James Earwaker and Maureen & Gerald Sinnott at 54 Bengal Street.  Is there anyone out there who can unravel this mystery.  If they can where is John Earwaker - Christopher's father? When Agnes died her daughter Maureen lived at 60 Honeyhall road, Liverpool 26. Thank you :)

It looks like John Earwaker's wife Elizabeth remarries in 1906 under her maiden name of Sinclair;

Elizabeth Sinclair
Patrick Doherty

2nd qtr 1906 Liverpool
Vol:8b
Pge:263

Haven't managed to find John after 1901 Census when he's with the family in Liverpool. :(

So somewhere between 1914 and 1939 registration, Christopher Earwaker wife Emily disappears and he has a wife Agnes?

The Maureen on Christopher's grave with wife Agnes would be Christopher's daughter not Frances'. Just trying to work it out too :)

Death
Dec 1960
Liverpool North
10 438
Emily Earwaker  age 70

It looks as if Chris and Emily separated, probably never divorced, so Chris never actually married Maureen.
No sign of a marriage.

According to the 1939 Register, Emily Earwaker, b 1890, and William, b 1920, are living in Cubbin Street.

There are newspaper reports about Christopher Earewaker for motoring offences:-

A bus driver of Cubbin Street, Kirkdale, in 1930.

Reports in 1934 give his address as Battenburg Street and 118a Kensington.

In 1939, Christopher, b 1894, and Agnes, b 1911, are at a different address, with one younger family member.

It sounds as though Christopher had separated from Emily but may not have been married to Agnes.

Now to find where John Earwaker disappeared to after 1901, I have looked and the nearest possibility is a death in Watford 1902, year of birth is out a bit though.

John Earwaker, 34 years
2nd qtr 1902 Watford
Vol:3a
Pge:383

Haven't found a marriage between him and Elizabeth Sinclair either :( Not having too good a morning!
