( but at the time of immigration it could have beed under Austrian possession?)

My paternal grandparents spoke German as they were from a German town in Bukovina...they had to speak the language in order to get work ( originally the family was from Italy).... they declared Austro-Hungarian at immigration to Canada....
Good thing they weren't thrown into camps!!!...and all their lads signed up for ww2!!!
