I'm trying to find out more about this lady, found on the 1881 census in Portsea, Hampshire.
All I know about her is the info given there, Ann S C (as transcribed by Ancestry, not very clear) Leigh, married (husband not with her), aged 40, born about 1841 in the West Indies (British subject), naval engineer's wife. Class: RG11; Piece: 1158; Folio: 11; Page: 15
A few simple searches have not produced anything else so I'd be really grateful for help in finding out anything else about her. Edwin and Edith Coston/Costin, shown as her nephew and niece, are 2 children of Mary Ann Leigh, sister to Walter Robert Leigh (who has been the subject of a number of posts on here) and Ann may (just possibly) be a vital link in the tree.
Many thanks,
Deirdre
Edited to add: I've already found out probably as much as I ever will about Walter Robert Leigh.... though I've not yet found him in 1871, nor any evidence that he was ever in the army (other than as stated on his marriage certificate in 1876 and the birth certs of his first two children), and why he and the family was recorded as Packman on both the 1881 and 1891 censuses

). So I'm not looking for anything on him, unless somehow, this Ann links to him.
