James and Ellen Syred . Passenger list info please?
« on: Sunday 24 January 16 11:02 GMT (UK) »
James Syred 1818 - 1907 and his wife Ellen 1829 - 1896 sailed from England with their children to Canada.

Wife Ellen died in Canada in 1896 (where?) They  must have sailed after 1872. I know they had children Ellen, James and poss Rosamond.

Can anyone help me with Dates of departure / Arrival. Ports, or any information on where they settled?

I do know that Ellen married one of my Sheward relatives in 1900 in Piapot, Canada.
I may not be able to reply straight away due to work commitments.

Thanks Enots.

So between 1872 and 1876 they sailed to somewhere in good old Canada.

Thanking you for that info.           Enots.

Hi Enots,

Good old Canada  ;D

Daughter Catherine was born in Quebec, age 5 in 1881, so yes, sailed sometime before 1876.

Cheers,
DB

Hi,

There is a burial in Quebec Vitals Drouin Collection, St. Jude Anglican Church, Montreal, 1897

"Ellen Pollard Vosper, wife of James Syred of the city of Montreal age 67 years, died on the ninth
day of our Lord, one thousand ninety six and was buried by me on the eleventh day of the same
month. James Thompson, curate, witnesses J. Stevenson, J.H. Chapman."

No mention of what month. ???

Cheers,
DB

Added: Just noticed that from Sandra's find, witnesses were son-in-laws.
