Hello Everyone....I´m trying to find the roots of my grandfather Kenneth Alfred Burdett who was born in Leicestershire (Brotenashlee) around 1920-25 and worked as a chief prison officer all around Scotland. I know very little about his past and I wanted to complete my family tree, mostly with names and dates of birth and deaths of his parents and grandparents, if possible. Thank you very much...

You might be better to start a new thread specifically about your family and I'm sure you'll get lotsof help from people here.

But to start, using freeBMD.org.uk, I can only see one birth for a Kenneth A Burdett in Leicestershire in the timescale you suggest, and that's in 1923, in Leicester town (not 100% sure where you mean by "Brotenashlee" but maybe Broughton Astley? -- That's in Leicestershire but not in the city itself). I would suggest from the freeBMD entry that that Kenneth may well have been illegitimate.

But because the birth was in 1923, it's possible that person could still be alive so I can't put any more details here.

There are other births listed in Leicester in other years but with a different middle name or initial.

Is your grandfather still with us or has he passed away?

Thank you very much Annie...I sense that is him cause his father didn´t recognised him when he was born and I´m sure  that Broughton Astley is the village my dad told me and I mixed up with Brotenaslee...he had one brother  and one sister , that´s all I know.....my grandfather died in 1987 in Scotland (buried in Perth or Peterhead), I´m not sure of that, I´m trying to find it out.....I´m very grateful for your help...Sincerely....Iván

Annie....I´m sure it is him because he died in 1987 when he was 64 and that matches precisely...I live in Spain cause his first son, my father, emigrated when He was very young....I´ve discovered that he  was cremated in Perth...Thank you again
