Dora Smithies-Barton Lancs 1936.

I received a message on GR concerning my relative Fred Smithies who was born in Wilmslow Cheshire in 1907.The guy stated that he was the son of a Dora Smithies born in 1936 who has since died.He also stated that my Fred was Dora's father.

As ever with these things I'm a little impatient to wait for further replies from my contact.Now the guy guy gave me access to his Tree but the trouble with it is that it starts with Dora.He is not forthcoming with any info as regards Fred's marriage.

Now having had a brief look at all this it appears Dora's birth is listed with a mother's maiden name of Ford.My problem is that I'm unable to find any Smithies/Ford Marriage.Help please?!

Did you notice that Dora's birth is also registered with the surname Mills?

Yes it does seem a strange one though none of the Surnames are helpful.lolThough she does later marry under the Surname Smithies.

It might be an idea to look at the 1939 entry for her

It mayybe and for the Fred as  well,if I knew even the Christian name for Fred's wife it would be a clue.

Put Dora Smithies in 'Who' and nothing else in that link and search.  This will give an index from which you can use the information given. Go back to the link I gave, clear the form and fill in the Borough/District and put Doras name under other household members at the bottom of the page. It will not give you an address but should give names of people she was living with. 
This will not however give whether persons are single or married, their full dates of birth, occupations or address.
