Mary Carmichael died 1906 Philadelphia
« on: Saturday 05 March 16 17:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

I've just come across a listing from the Philadelphia Inquirer death notices for the 6 Feb 1906 that lists:

Carmichael Mary feb 3 daughter of William Carmichael and late Margaret (née McCorry) Holy Cross Cem.

Can anyone advise me how I would find more info on this. A death certificate that would list her age or birth place? I'm wondering if she is the Mary I have born 15 Dec 1885 in Northern Ireland with those parents. If so, was she there alone or were other family there? Is there an immigration record?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice,
Holly

There are Philadelphia death records here - https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1320976  I don't see her, though.  Maybe she died outside the city.

Thank you Shelly for the link.

Rosie that is her! I just looked at the image and I think it's an abbreviation of deceased, not decales.

Going from this I found a passenger list on family search I think is her in 1899. The age is off by 2 years, but the place she lived and the fact she was going to her sister Sarah fits.

I found what I think is Sarah's passenger list but it says she's going to her sister Jane. I don't have a sister Jane for her yet. So I'll have to look into it and also a marriage/census for Sarah who was born 22 May 1877.

Thanks again for the help.

I will check that out. Thanks rosie.

I've been able to work out Sarah married a James McGlade. And that their youngest sister Margaret also went to the U.S. aged 10. She's with Sarah in 1910 but sadly dies at the age of 25. I also found Sarah's death. I don't think that is Sarah coming out to see her sister Jane. So will have to look for her immigration again.

Cheers.
