SEMMENS = HARVEY
« on: Saturday 05 March 16 19:25 GMT (UK) »
Catherine SEMMENS married Samuel HARVEY 29 July 1791 at St Just in Penwith.
Does anyone know when & to whom Catherine was born ?
There are two St Just possibles:  Dau. of Peter & Esther, baptised 1 Nov 1772 and Dau. of John 20 Oct 1768.
Neither do I know Samuel's origin.
Any help on St Piran's Day would be apt.

their last child appears to be William baptised 28 July 1812 in Gwennap, so possible burial for Samuel in that parish 22 Feb 1816 aged 47 of Crofthandy, and possible baptism same parish 6 Nov 1768 son of Samuel & Ann which could account for couple's first son being named Samuel.

Do you have Catherine's burial to check her approximate age? I doubt she was a daughter of Peter & Esther as neither of those names are used for the Harvey children.

if that is the right family, Catherine is living at Poldhu in Gwennap in 1841 (enumerated just after Crofthandy), enumerated as 70, so rounded down, son William enumerated as 25, correct for someone born 1812. HO107/137/12 folio 36 pg 8.

Possible burial for Catherine 18 April 1847 aged 81, abode noted as St Day.

If her father is John, it would appear his wife was Mary as there are several other baptisms to the couple in St Just in Penwith. Possible marriage 31 March 1755 in St Hilary John Symons of St Just & Mary Williams otp.
