McCullough & Priestley families
« on: Thursday 10 March 16 03:56 GMT (UK) »
Hello There;

I am trying to collate my wife's family tree and was wondering if anyone has any connection or information regarding the above families. They were from County Down originally but they migrated to Yackandandah; Victoria, Australia around the 1860's.

Kind Regards,

Steve

Interesting Nigeria!

Funeral 1913
On Tuesday, Mr James Priestley, aged 41 , brother of Mr Alex Priest
ley, J.P., died at the residence of his sister, Mrs James M'Cormick.
Since his return from West Africa where he was managing a mine at
Nigeria, the deceased had been seriously invalided, and for some
time past the condition of his health has been so critical that little hope
was held out for his recovery.
However, he bore his ailment cheer fully, and his untimely death is
regretted by a number of relatives and sorrowing friends. Mr Priest
ley who was unmarried, was born and bred in Yackandaudah, was a
man of fine qualities, and until he contracted malaria in Africa his
health was good. The funeral took place to-day, the coffin, a silver- !
mounted polished oak casket
