Cabrach was under Banffshire during this period and there were a good number of Gordon's.

The only two John Gordon marriages between 1720-40 are these:

14/06/1724 GORDON JOHN MARGARET MCDONALD/FR43 (FR43) M CABRACH /BANFF 177/00 0010 0034
2 06/01/1739 GORDON JOHN ISABEL BURGESS/FR98 (FR98) M CABRACH /BANFF 177/00 0010 0089

Birth of a William to a John there are two:

17/06/1744 GORDON WILLIAM JOHN GORDON/ M CABRACH /BANFF 177/00 0010 0111
16/07/1744 GORDON WILLIAM JOHN GORDON/ M CABRACH /BANFF 177/00 0010 0111

Keep in mind there will be more, just not recorded or records lost.  OPR births will also be thin because of the same reasons.

29/12/1767 GORDON WILLIAM ANNA ROSS/ M CABRACH /BANFF 177/00 0010 0303

You can get the details for the above or search for more from Scotland's People http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Old Parish Registers are the pre 1855 when everything became Statutory

What I listed for you are the indexes, you can download these documents at Scot's People.

The OPR's lack detail, for births normally just the father/mother sometimes just the father.  The date of the baptism and sometimes also the date of birth.  The parish where the child was born and sometimes where the child was born and sometimes names of any witnesses.

Marriage Banns, the couple the parish where they were from and the date, sometimes the occupation of the male.

There are no such things as birth, marriage or death certificates until the start of statutory civil registration in 1855.

Before that, the main records are the Old Parish Registers (OPRs) which are the written records kept by the Church of Scotland of baptisms and proclamations of banns of marriage. The originals of all of these, plus the surviving Roman Catholic registers of baptisms and marriages, can be viewed online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, which is pay-per-view but modestly priced.

The quality of the information is very variable, and the registers are incomplete for a variety of reasons. The further back you go, the more people are simply missing from the records altogether.

The IGI International Genealogical Index (Community indexed) is a useful index to what surviving records there are, but it is neither 100% complete not 100% accurate. Beware of the Community Contributed section of the IGI, which contains, along with lots of useful pointers, some information which is at best dubious and at worst complete fantasy.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

The marriage of William Gordon in Cabrach to Anna Ross in Glenbucket was recorded in both parishes. The wedding would normally take place at the bride's home. Their children 1768-1781 were all born at Auchmair in the Upper Cabrach (i.e. Aberdeenshire). The baptismal witnesses for these children were primarily John, George and William Gordon all at Auchmair. The Gordons who were at Auchmair in the previous generation were John Gordon & Isobell Burgess & George Gordon who had an un-named child in 1741; John Gordon had children 1725-1728.
Given that William Gordon [& Anna Ross] first son was called William then he is probably an unrecorded son of William Gordon & Isobell Burgess, but its hard to be sure.
All Cabrach, Fyvie, Methlick in Aberdeenshire
Mee, Merrin, Stevenson in Notts Derby
