I am trying to go backwards on the above;
She married Harry Edwin Blackman in 1918, in Sevenoaks;
I have a very solid birthdate for her - the Ancestry Death Index and the 1939 register agree exactly on 11 Oct 1893.
Going to FreeBMD, I searched for every (!!!) Chapman in the entirety of England for 1893, downloaded the result, and used Unix search (egrep) to look for likely matches, since FreeBMD's wildcarding ain't great.
The only hit that's close at all is super close;
Births Dec 1893 Chapman Celia Fanny Sevenoaks 0 2a 623
Looking for a census I only find good results in 1901 (Class: RG13; Piece: 748; Folio: 175; Page: 6);
3 presumed siblings in the SevenOaks workhouse; Louisa (9), Celia(7), Gladys(4)
By 1911, Lousia is a general domestic servant in Sevenoaks, and Gladys has moved to the Workhouse Schools, Ewell, Surrey.
I cannot find a solid hit for Celia in 1911.
Can anyone find Celia in 1911, or (preferably) the origins/parents of this sad little Chapman clan, pre 1901?
