BMD micro-fiches

Hi all, I am searching on BMDs for an adoption.
I have found a micro-fiche which I think has the record on and upon going to the BMD shop, the "date of event" is 01/01/ ****. Is this the date the micro-fiche was set up? Other records in the same year have the same date.

Hi Whenu,
What you are looking for sounds similar to another person on here, who was looking for her adopted ancestor.
You need to match up the number - year and place of birth.  Then trawl through the microfiche, you maybe lucky, and find it quite quickly.
I remember helping another Rootschater, I was able to match the year and so forth.
Unfortunately I never heard back so I'm unsure if what I found was the correct original birth registration.
If you like to send me a PM with the details - I could check for you.  However the year you are searching for may not be on the microfiche I have access to.

Hi Sarra, I've been given images of the micro-fiches. I have found what I believe to be the original certificate, have got in touch with BDMs and found out the file is closed under the Adoption laws, I am going through the rest of the photos looking for the the same christian names and location reference, could take a while, be ok as long as the name wasn't changed.

Think some libraries have them or the national archive.
I asked nicely on here and got a most accommodating  member supplied what I was after.

Whenu,If you have the original certificate - that should make it easier for you. The one I was searching for - the Christian names were changed.
However if you search through the microfiche and are able to match the year and the file number you should be able to find what you are looking for.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the original cert., just know the file number and Christian names, only 1100 photos to look at.
