Hello all,
My 3rd Great Grandfather William Thums was born in 1855 and died in 1938. He lived in Beeston and was a well-known butcher, working on High Road. He had a number of group memberships which I will list below as this may help in the search:
- Beeston Ratepayer's Association (abt. 1887)
- Subscriber/Friend of Nottingham Day Nursery and Orphanage (abt. 1990
- Member of Beeston Urban District Council (Chairman in 1907 and 1921) (abt. 1900 - abt. 1930)
- Beeston Choral Society (abt. 1910)
- Nottinghamshire County Council (abt. 1907)
- Basford Board of Guardians (Beeston Representative (abt. 1917 - abt. 1923
- Representative and Trustee for Rushcliffe Hospital Committee (abt. 1921)
- Chairman of Children's Committee (abt. 1925)
- Treasurer of Beeston and District Conservative Association (abt. 1929)
I have searched through numerous records in newspapers and what I'd really like are some pictures of my grandfather as a member of these groups. I'm unsure as to where to look, so I'm wondering whether anyone has any pointers or has any pictures which William may be on?
I find it really strange that he was such a prevalent person in Beeston yet this information was so hard to find, and there are no pictures of him?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Many thanks,
