Austrian Family History Research
« on: Wednesday 27 April 16 02:06 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'd like to do more research into the Austrian branch of my family tree.
I have some information on family members names, but dates of birth/death etc are very sketchy.

There don't seem to be any Austrian records on Ancestry yet.

Does anyone know if there are any Austrian BDM records online at all?

Is there somewhere else on roots chat that I could post specific enquiries?

I also don't speak German. But I could use a translator tool.

Thank you
Emma

Hi Emma,

here vou can find some Austrian dates. You have to register, but you don't have to pay for it.
On the right site of the top you can change the language to english.

www.genteam.at

Here are dates from Tirol (it is a territory from Austria). At the bottom you can see in red letters  "Ich stimme den Nutzungsbedingungen zu - weiter zu den Matriken". You have submit this terms of use.

https://www.tirol.gv.at/kunst-kultur/landesarchiv/matriken-tirol-online-hinweise-und-nutzungsbedingungen/

And here you can also try it.

If you need help please send me a message, good luck and sorry for my english ;)

Thank you very much for that.

I am searching for people who lived in the Tirol region but also people from Klagenfurt.

I will have a look at the links you posted.

Tirol and Kärnten are both online, like most others. ;)
Tirol complete and Kärnten at moment at letter L.
So Klagenfurt is to search since short time.

DIRECT Link to Tirol files ;) select at Pfarren A-Z the group you need, then the parish church

Kärnten: Österreich, Diözese Gurk, H-K, Klagenfurt, select the parish church you need

Matricula for Carinthia is easy to handle.
Tirol has another system, which is getting used to handle.  :-\
