Father: James HILDER  Mother: Mary TELLANS (dau of John there)

Children

Despite what the shipping record has the local NSW Historical Society has this for Moses:

I'd like to sort out the birth/baptism for Moses and his parents.

Thanks,

Fred

I don't think the name is Tellens , but Sellens.

Mary Sellens m Jesse Hilder 13 Nov 1813 Mountfield
Ann Sellens m James Hilder 25 Dec 1834 Mountfield

No marriage for James Hilder and Mary Sellens ( or Tellens ) that I can see.

I've just read over the Married Male Immigrant details for Moses Hilder from the passenger list and I'm not seeing the details as you've quoted. It says :

"Moses Hilder
arrived by the ship Susan
a native of Mountfield, Sussex , son of James Hilder ,labourer, and of Mary Hilder , daughter of Ruth Dohlich all of the same parish .

Calling : farm labourer
Age on embarkation : 30 "

After the entries for Elizabeth Hilder and their children , the next page gives details of a James Hilder, who may be related to Moses but who is not his father :

"James Hilder
arrived by the Ship Susan
Native of Mountfield, Sussex , son of Jesse Hilder, labourer,  and Mary Hilder  , daughter of John Sellens , Labourer  in the same place.
Age on embarkation : 24 "
This James Hilder is the son of Jesse Hilder and Mary Sellens , mentioned in my previous post re their marriage in 1813.
James Hilder baptised 31 May 1814 Mountfield , son of Jesse and Mary Hilder.

It's starting to make a bit more sense to me.

Hi Fred,

I see that you were looking at a typed transcript. The information I posted came from a digital copy of the original handwritten documents. It looks like the transcriber has amalgamated details from several records and made some errors in the process.

Hi Christine,

Moses & Elizabeth also shown in some records as 2 Jun 1833 at Mountfield and Salehurst.

I'd like to confirm if possible the dob of Moses, Elizabeth and their children Mary and Charles.

The typed shipping record has all four dates but that's not good enough. Baptisms are ok.

Thanks,

Fred
