I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Loco Driver at Steel Works. The census clerk categorising occupations has annotated Rly ED i.e. Railway Engine Driver. The other one is "Oiling in ED"

I think the other says 'Oiling in ditto', i.e in the Locomotive
The letters ED have been added later as an occupational classification.

The Ditto mark can be seen between the E and the D.

I think "Oiling in "" could mean "Oiling in Steel Works" and the clerk has assumed it was on the Loco and put ED.
