British Naturalisation in 1964
« on: Saturday 07 May 16 10:03 BST (UK) »
Morning all.....
My parents were both born in central Europe.  My father was proud to achieve British Naturalised status in 1964, and I found the certification reference number by searching The National Archive.
However, my mother's name will not respond to searching in the same way.

Does anyone know, is it likely that her naturalisation was included on the same certification as my father's, or would she have been named separately on her own certification?

I think that if your father was a British subject then your mother, as his wife, would automatically have been a British subject too.

I have something similar with my grandfather being naturalised, but not my grandmother. :)

It turned out that after my father's certification, my mother, as his lawful spouse, was able to apply for British status.
After the document was witnessed by a Commissioner for Oaths and ratified by the Home Office, it was returned to my mother.
