Where is ASHE/ASHES? COMPLETE
« on: Saturday 14 May 16 20:03 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

I really wasn't sure where to post this, but I have recently found a baptism at Wentworth in Yorkshire in the 1700's, and it gives the grandparents (and parents names) - one of the grandparents (Thomas Vickers) is said to be a 'carpenter of Ashe' (spelled Ashes on another baptism).

I was just wondering where this could refer to - is there a place in Yorkshire called Ash/Ashe/Ashes? Could it maybe refer to Ash in Derbyshire?

Thank you for any help,
Holly

Thank you Stan, this seems like the most likely candidate. I did find a possible baptism of his daughter at Wentworth, now I know that this is likely to be the correct one.
