Recent historical newspapers/court records?

Hi there,

I've been lead to believe that my great uncle spent time at her majesties pleasure. He was born in Middlesbrough in 1925 and died in 1981.
Where would I look for information regarding this please?

I can't get to local archives as I'm at the opposite end of the country!

What was his name?  Maybe someone will be able to help.

His name was Edward 'Teddy' Hubbard.

Ive just had a quick search and nothing is coming up in the newspaper archives.

a lot of people are sent to prison and the story just isn't newsworthy.

Do you know what he was jailed for?

Yes, I guess that could be the case. I believe it was possibly child grooming related or worse... As I say it's hear say at present so may well be a red herring.

As Sunflower stated, the papers only go up to 1953, it's possible that the offence, if any, was after that date, in which case you would have to visit the local archive.

Thanks Bee, sadly no chance of that at present as I'm on the south coast and have small kids! I'll have to put this on the back burner xxx
