William Markham (1614-1650)
« on: Thursday 26 May 16 04:12 BST (UK) »
Looking for ancestry info on a William Markham born 1614 - died about 1650 in Allerton, Nottinghamshire, England. He was married to Ann Penn 1618-1650. They had 3 children that I know of George, William 1635-1704 & Elizabeth Markham 1640-1679. I have everything on their descendants. I know that William was descendant from Sir Alexander de Markham, constable of the castle of Nottingham, England. But though I can find him I cant seem to decipher a line from one to the other.

A quick google search reveals the line you are interested in is in "Burke's Commoners", vol ii, page 203.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

I think you may mean Ollerton, there are many Markham burials there, but later than 1650.

A little about them here http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/monographs/markham1882/markham3.htm

It appears that Ollerton was once called Allerton--well, I only live a few miles away and I never knew that, you learn something new every day  :o

Larkspur I'm not surprised through doing my research I've noticed a lot of places the names have changed overtime.
