Many thanks Heywood - any chance you can tell me if there is another entry for:
Jane ALLEN to William Adam PURVES....?
We know Jane and William were married 13 June 1872 Kilconnell and I have been wondering if Jessie and Thomas KERANS were married on the same day - Jane and Jessie were sisters.

Thank you thank you thank you - I had been wondering if the other site had it wrong.
I had a newspaper clipping of the Jane-William marriage but not the Jessie-Thomas event.
It's a quite sad occasion later on as Jane and William had a baby daughter October 1875 - she died as a baby, her mother Jane died also in October.
Then a daughter was born to her sister Jessie in November 1875 and they gave their daughter the name of Jessie's deceased sister's baby, plus the name Purves  included in the child's names.
 :'(

Thanks again for taking the time to check for me.

I came across this - do you have  it?
There was another sister Alice who married Marmaduke Backhouse it seems.

Thanks also for that - yes I had found it and it was a great help in uncovering mysteries of the past.
While we know that Alice, Jane & Jessie were daughters (in that order of birth) to Crawford Allen and Jessie nee Adams the big question (which we are having no success in answering) is - was there also a son - Crawford Allen possibly born c1853.......?
We have a note (no envelope) written by Jane from 41 Torrington Square (London ?) to her dearest brother Crawford just after she was married in 1872 - yes, we have the actual handwritten note here in Australia, passed down through the generations, so while we believe/hope that Crawford Allen (Snr.) and Jessie nee Adams had a son Crawford we can't find any record of his birth or anything about him in the UK.  He came to Australia in 1875 (left from Galway on the ship "Loch Eck") and while we have a bit about him between then and 1917, after that he is once again a mystery  ???
