Is that your Samson Sherwood, or another Sherwood?  Just looked on the transcribed WWI RN Service Records and it would seem that Samson Sherwood's records have not yet been transcribed.  You might like to . link so that you can have a look every now and then to see if his records have been posted.

Lizzie,
No, this individual is another crew member with the same surname - not as far as I know immediate family.  Since I last posted here I have indeed started a new thread on The Common Room to ask the more general question about whether opposing Navies picked up survivors from the other side, and have had a very generous and knowledgable reply from a Rootschatter called Larkspur.  I'm gradually getting a different picture of the aftermath of the carnage on that day on May 31st 1916, a much better, more positive one.
And thanks so much for putting all that precise detail on your penultimate post about all the survivors themselves..
Keith
…and will certainly keep an eye on that link you've kindly provided for any updates on new records...

Happy to be able to give you a little information, I'm sure you'll get much more from the knowledgeable people on here who have a lot of background knowledge too.

Here are the photographs that we have at present on those on board HMS Queen Mary:

Alfred Thomas Sherwood was a survivor on board.  We do not show a Samson Sherwood.

Battle of Jutland. Skagerrakschlacht. Endeavouring to identify all those in the British fleet that were present at the battle.
