Harriet Barber b.1805 Maldon, Essex
« on: Sunday 05 June 16 14:13 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I am looking for a Harriet Barber born circa 1805 in Maldon, Essex as far as can be determined from census records. She married in Bledlow, Buckinghamshire in 1829 and lived and died in Chinnor, Oxfordshire. At the time of her marriage she was of Saunderton, Buckinghamshire.

If anyone can help me locate her, or possible matches, in Essex I would be grateful.

I'm not sure what that is? Is it the record office?

Just found this: http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/Result_Details.aspx?ID=45532

But looks like I have to register and subscribe?

John, the twin buried 30/10/1804.
Yes I did. You can buy a one day subscription for about £10 if you want to see originals of the registers. If you only have a few things to find out, ask on here and people will usually help out.
If you're Joseph was in the Surrey militia, he may not have had all his children in Essex or been from around Essex? Will have a look to se if there are any othe children or a marriage as Mary might have been from Maldon maybe?

Thank you so much. My thinking is that the Barber's weren't from Essex from a quick look at Barber's on census records. I don't really have much to look at in Essex, and like you said, especially when it's possible he wasn't from the area.

I hadn't even heard of the website until I posted on here as my family are mainly from Buckinghamshire.

It is quite amazing and has been really useful for me as half of my ancestors are from Essex. I have been able to get back to the early 1600s for many lines. As I don't live there anymore, it's been great being able to look at the records inline. Plus, you can just look through them as and when you have the time.
