Bruce family.
« on: Tuesday 07 June 16 16:07 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am researching the Bruce family for a friend. I have found them in the 1901 census in the the Parish of Lonmay,Aberdeenshire Scotland but that is all I have on the family.
I have
William Bruce             head of family age 30
Mary Bruce                 wife age 32
John Charles Bruce      son age 6
Alexander                   son age 4
James Smith Bruce      son age 1
Robert Wood B Bruce   son age 2
Wiiliamina Mary Bruce  daughter age 6 months.

does anyone know anything else about this family.

Thanks.

Have you looked on Scotlands people for the marriage?  Downloading a copy of the cert will give you both sets of parents names plus their mothers maiden name?

Have you checked the 1871/1881 census for William to establish his parents names etc?

Hi ,

Mary's maiden name was possibly MacDonald , if you download one of the birth certificates of the children this should help confirm mother's maiden name and marriage date.

Hi Rosie, thank you so much for the information. Its a great help  :)

As it's been suggested best place to look would be Scotlands People to get their marriage certificate to see what parents are mentioned
This could be a possible for William Bruce in the 1881 census born about 1872 Lonmay living with his grandparents at Bruckfield  Crimmond  Aberdeenshire ..also there in the 1891 census
Grandfather William Bruce b 1824 Crimmond and Grandmother Margaret Bruce b 1829 Auchterless her maiden name could possibly be Wood ...
