Joseph Henry Smart
« on: Wednesday 15 June 16 12:09 BST (UK) »
I am looking for a Joseph Henry Smart (9yrs old in 1911 census born I think in very late 1901 or early 1902) baptised first quarter 1902. Place of birth is given as Monks Kirby on census, birth registered in Lutterworth but actual place of birth is Cloudesley Bush according to family. Is anyone able to find him in the parish records please?

Images for Monk's Kirby baptisms up to 1910 are on Ancestry, no sign of any Smarts between mid 1901 and 1910. Have you found baptisms for any of his siblings anywhere?

They are a seriously tricky family to track down, seemingly always moving around the Warwickshire/Leicestershire border at this time.

The Lutterworth area also creeps into Northamptonshire   ::)

This will give you a list of the parishes in Lutterworth reg. district.

When you say you're looking for Joseph - you clearly have his birth registration and his 1911 census entry so what exactly are you looking for?

I'm mostly interested what his place of birth is on the parish records. His son, my great uncle, says he was born in Cloudesley Bush which is a tiny settlement in Wsrwickshire within the parish of Monks Kirby. However, his birth appears to be registered in Lutterworth. I would just like all the information and I'm curious what the parish records say, if they say anything at all!

His birth cert will give you his place of birth.

His baptism may give where they were living when he was baptised, may be just a general term like the name of the town or area.

If you want to know where he was born, then birth cert will answer your question.

Monks Kirby is within the Lutterworth registration district.

On Google, Cloudesley Bush appears to be not much more than a farm. If the family is prepared to narrow the address down that far for you, I think it's likely to be reasonably accurate.

But as lizdb says, you will need to get the birth certificate to be certain.

Monks Kirby is within the Lutterworth registration district.

I didn't realise that. I thought that since they were in different counties there was something a little strange going on.
