William Chapman/Judith?
« on: Saturday 18 June 16 08:46 BST (UK) »
Goodmorning all

I have a William Chapman 45, Bargeman, 'wife' Judith 45 both born Hertfordshire living in Kibes Lane Ware in 1841.
With them are living Frederick 10, Richard 8 and Elizabeth Page 6 who belong to me and I have them from there on, their parents both dec by 1841.
Please can anyone shed any light on who William and Judith Chapman were?, I cannot find any marriage or them in 1851 so presume they may have been dec, again no deaths that I can be certain of.
Any help would be appreciated.

Chooch.

Hello,

Who were the children's parents? Where were the children born?
There are a couple of other Chapman families on the same page - both called John so could be father and son but they may be related and worth noting.

Regards
Heywood

Judith may have been a sister to William, of course.

There is a Judith born to parents John and Ann and also a child William to the same parents - Family Search.
The christening is 1802 though so age may be out.

If William Chapman was a Bargeman there is every chance that he and Judith were on the Barge at the time of the 1851 Census. It was pot luck whether an enumerator caught up with them!

Thank you both Heywood and Giggsy, food for thought here. Didn't consider that Judith could be a sister and yes as a bargeman William could have been away somewhere. But would it be likely brother and sister were together? Possibly.
I will look further in to the Judith bpt 1802 ( ages were out in 1841). I have found a burial for a Judith Chapman 31 May 1831 Ware, so this couldn't be the one I'm looking for.

Thanks again I appreciate your input.

England, Select Deaths and Burials has that death transcribed as Judah Chapman, male.  ???
I can't see a corresponding birth though.
