Children of Thomas Rogers
« on: Tuesday 28 June 16 13:19 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth Rogers was baptised on 5th March 1775 at Drax. She was the daughter of Thomas Rogers and it looks as if the rest of Thomas' children were all baptised at Snaith. Looking at marriages for Thomas, I think that he married Mary Smith at Snaith on 24th November 1774.

Between 1775 and 1782, Thomas and Mary had the following children:

Elizabeth (bapt. 1775) at Drax
Mary (bapt. 1776)
Ann (bapt. 1778)
Thomas (bapt. 1780)
James (bapt. 1782)

There is also a marriage for a Thomas Rogers (which may or may not be MY Thomas Rogers) who married Ann Pearl in 1782 at Snaith.

There are several baptisms for children of Thomas Rogers after 1782:

John (bapt. 1784)
Phoebe (bapt. 1786)
Esther (bapt. 1788)
Sally (bapt. 1790)

No mother's name is given for any of the baptisms so how can I determine which children were born to which Thomas Rogers? Or could it be that Thomas' wife, Mary, died and he remarried to Ann Pearl?

The Thomas Rogers that married Ann Pearl in 1782 was a bachelor, and she a spinster. Both of Carlton ? of the parish of Snaith.

With the exception of Elizabeth ALL the children state 'Thomas Rogers of Pollington', the latter few he was also a labourer.

The Thomas that married in 1782 married by licence and both parties signed the register, whereas Thomas and Mary both left their mark.

Possibly might be worth looking for the marriage licence to see if there was any more information given .
