Samuel Prince
« on: Tuesday 28 June 16 17:35 BST (UK) »
I am trying to get some dates for my Samuel Prince. I have him as being the son of Samuel Prince and Sarah Betridge, born in 1794 in Atherstone, he was christened in Mancetter on 2nd February 1794.  He married Mary Ann Fox in Mancetter after Banns on 5th August 1816. They were the parents of William Prince born in Atherstone on 12th December 1837.
My problem is that Samuel and Sarah appear to have had TWO sons named Samuel, the second being christened in Mancetter on 17th July 1796! I am assuming that the first Samuel died before the birth of the second Samuel and that it is the later Samuel who is my ancestor but I can't find any burial dates or deaths for my 1794 Samuel.
Are Mancetter and Atherstone linked in any way or have I got the wrong Samuel and Sarah? If these are my Samuel and sarah where is Samuel number 1's death record? :-\
Any help most gratefully received.  :)

Is this the family?

1841
Mancetter
Samuel 40 hat maker
Mary 40
Henry 15
George 13
John 11
Ann 9
William 5
Samuel 2
Sarah 7

In 1851 are in Atherstone and all say born Atherstone.

These places seem to be in Warwickshire, not Leicestershire?

Here is mentions the village of Mancetter, linked with Atherstone

Mancetter is right by Atherstone and they are both in Warwickshire, but only just!

PRs are available on Ancestry (scanned copies, yay!) and I can see a Samuel son of Samuel and Sarah Prince buried on Feb 13 1794 (no age given). This is not listed as a burial on the search - it's under baptisms, you'll need to open the file and go through the scanned pages to find it.
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)

Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

Thanks for that information Annie, I'll go back into my A'stry account and flip through the pages. I found his christening but nothing came up under burials as you say. Now I know where to look it will be easier as my computer is having a lot of 'stike Days' at present and keeps shutting itself fown after about 10 mins. Makes finding anything very difficult!  :D

Yes, they are my Princes lizdb, Atherstone and Mancetter are indeed in warwickshire but both fall under the Ashby de la Zouch area where records are concerned, or so I understand.

Thanks both for the help. Much appreciated.  :)
