James Stead Barker

I am looking for any information on James Stead Barker born around 1850 in Scarborough Yorkshire. His mother's name was Barker and I think his father was James Stead. They were not married.
I cannot find any record of the birth in BMD but family sources say he was baptised in St. Mary's Scarborough in May 1850. I haven't been able to verify this.
Any help would be welcome!
