1914 military photo found in UK.....
« on: Monday 11 July 16 20:29 BST (UK) »
Hi,

A few years ago I found the photo below of Transport Signallers of NZ Main Expeditionary Force, 1914, and though I wrote to a family history society in NZ i have never heard from anyone.

Sadly there is no identification of the soldiers in any way, and I cant remember where i found it! But it had obviously been kept by someone in the UK.

Perhaps someone might be able to tell me more about the signallers - presumably they went to Europe?  Which is the best archive to send copy to?

Many thanks
Richard

Hi Richard,

I think a good place to start would be the Army Museum

The Imperial War museum would be most grateful to add a copy to their archives. It would reach a wide audience there.

Hello from NZ.

Could you please rescan the photo at a higher resolution, and crop to just the two caps. The photo could have been taken, with crew, just after landing in the UK.

We may then be able to determine the vessel they were serving on. Could narrow down the search.

Though the photo you have posted is within the size limit for this forum, the resolution was not high enough for my attempt at cropping. [see attached] With cropping to just the two caps, a higher resolution can be used and yet stay within the 500 Kb forum limit.

Regards,

Alan.
