Mariner' Hotel, Lime Street, Sydney
« on: Friday 15 July 16 05:43 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to find a photograph of the Mariner's Hotel in Lime Street, Sydney.  Do not know if the building still exists in Sydney, have not been able to find the Hotel by googling, except for one at Woolomooloo.   Lime Street is King Street Wharf at Darling Harbour

Our relation lived there in 1878, so would really love to get a photo, if anyone could assist me please.

There was a Lime Street wharf back then, also.

I can find reference to it in old newspapers, but nothing recent.

Google maps has Lime Street still, however it is now a much longer street than it was back in the 1900s.   In 1902 it Lime St commenced at Erskine Street and ended at Slip Street.  (so Lime Street ran north -south, parallel with Sussex, but to the west of Sussex).   Slip Street was about where Cuthbert St is now. So the west side of Lime Street is nearest to the Wharves and Darling Harbour

Sands 1900 Suburban Street Directory :

Lime Street  East Side
Anderson & Irving, Engineers
Mariners' Hotel (John Wilson)
A.U.S.N. Co's stores & workshop.

(JM notes that that Sands directory lists wharves on the West Side)
