Hi Rhys,

I obtained the marriage cert some time back and it shows:-

Rhoda Davies 22, Father Thomas Davies.

Albert John Beach 23, The section where his Fathers name should be is blank.

I'm just hoping this is not the end of my research.

My thinking is, that they are the same chap in different census years.

Good luck!

Hi,

I notice that on 1901 census he goes by the name of John Beach...

Could he be:

1891
RG12/4344
Folio 122 p. 7
Trelleck, Monmouthshire
Beacon Cottage, Payns Place
John A Beach, servant, 17, Farm Labourer, b. Monmouth

(at the farm of Watkin Price)

1881:
RG11/5228
Folio 81 p. 27
Fanny Hicks, head, mar, 44, Sewing Machinist
John Hicks, son, 8, scholar
William (B?)olton, lodger, unm, 21, General Labourer
Ellen do., lodger, unm, 28, General servant unemployed
John Beach, boarder, 8, scholar, b. Monmouth
George Hawkins, boarder, unm, 28, General Labourer

Which I agree doesn't help us regarding his parents  :-\ and probably just confuses more. Sorry.

Yes, I think you need to take Rhys's advice and get the marriage cert to be sure you are following the right family.

There are obviously several possibiliites and I could be leading you astray with the wrong one.  ;D

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi
the Albert , son of Benjamin  could well be a single police man
in Sheerness Kent in 1901. Ancestry have him as born Montana but
In fact it is Monmouth.( makes a change from Somalia for Somerset ,and my gggf  born Nantyglo. Nebraska.)

There is a birth for John Beach  June 1873 Monmouth 11a 39
On the 1871 Monmouth there is a Mary Beach 19 Unmarried
servant born Herefordshire unknown.
May be a connection in view of the absence of a father on the
marriage certificate.
Rhys
