Jane Francis
« on: Monday 18 July 16 18:14 BST (UK) »
Hello,
Can someone find the marriage and spouse of Jane please?
In 1861 she is Jane FRANCIS, a widow age 30, a Coal Miner, born Bedwellty. She has a 5 year old daughter Martha. Census says Jane is sister of head.
They are with the JONES family at Cottages, Lower Rassau, Llangynidr, Beaufort, Brecs.
John JONES, Head, age 40, a Hitcher in Mine Pitt, born Peterston, Mon.
Mary JONES, wife age 32, born Bedwellty, plus two sons.
RG9/4216/44/p18
Many thanks,
Rob

A copy of Martha's birth cert will give her fathers name

Births September qtr 1855
Martha Francis     Crickhowell    11b   114

Jane & Mary were born Bedwelty  - You can't rule out she was Mary's sister rather than John's in which case her maiden name may not have been Jones.

That would fit with a Beaufort christening.

IF that is the right one a possible death for her father, however that would mean he'd just died if Jane was a widow in 1861, as the census was 7 April.

Thanks everyone.
Carole, I was thinking (hoping) that Jane and Mary would be sisters. (Maiden name PLUMMER).
I'll order Martha birth certificate and go from there.

There is a marriage on freebmd between George Francis and Jane Plumer Dec qtr 1851 Abergavenny.  That's why I wondered if she was Mary's sister rather than John's
