Can anyone help me find my gtgtgrandparents 1851 1861 1871 census

HELP Can anyone help me find my gtgtgrandparents PLEASE

Their names are Charles and Ann Maguire ( Kelly ) They must have come from Ireland in the 1840s during the potato famine. On July 12th 1849 Ann gave birth to a daughter Agnes who was then baptized in St Charles Borromeo Rc Church in Hull on 13th July 1849. From then nothing about them can be found until Agnes appeared with her family The Doyles on the 1881 census in Haslingden Lancashire.    Where she was with her parents in 1851 1861 and 1871 I don't know But I would like to find out. If there is some kind person who will help me. I would be very grateful. I have tried the 1861 census in general with the 1837 on line site but I'm sure it's not complete because I have looked for others and only found one person . When I know they were still alive at that time. Hope someone can help Thanks Tess

Hi Tess
I have spent the last hour or so searching endlessly for this family and i can find absolutley zilch  ??? .Ive got Agnes from 1881 to 1901 but nothing before.
The only thing i can think is they may have returned to Ireland and maybe Agnes came back and got married, I cant find a marriage for her though
Sorry

Hi Joe  Thanks for looking for me and giving your time. I am so sad that I can't find them. I will just have to give up looking.

Strange too that I can't find the marriage of Agnes Her husband was Michael George Doyle but he used George because his father was Michael. I have details of them with their children Emily Agnes and Rose Hannah who was my grandmother. when they lived in Accrington Haslingden and Clayton le Moors, the latter being my hometown before I got Married. As far as going back to Ireland so soon after Agnes was born seems odd, I don't think they would have much money.. What do you think. Tess

Couple of ideas

According to the 1881 census she was possibly Emily Agnes.  The census transcription is a bit of a mess and the actual image isn't much better,  There does appear to be an Emily Agnes and an Agnes at the same address, but the both are around 30 and both are spinners.  The Emily Agnes is directly under George in the list.  There are three other people between Rose and Agnes who is last. Both show Hull as place of birth.  Now this could just be a big mix up or it could mean that Emily Agnes (b1878). is somewhere else. It doesn't help much, I know.

The other thing I find strange is that you cannot find the marriage and I cannot find Agnes (snr) birth either - do you have the cert? or just a baptism record.

Only real possibilities I can think of are

that her father died before 1861 and mother remarried and she is ennumerated under that name.
That she was possibly married before.

Also with all the variations of Maguire it is hard to search

How do you know Ann Maguire was previously Kelly?

I wholeheartedly agree with you EC, the 1881 does not fit the transcription as it should, but as you say its a mess
I have come to think that maybe Emily Agnes was Georges wife and not Agnes, because if you look in the'' condition to" box there is just a line through it (Agnes) where next to E mily it clearly says Mar!

Hi,    The 1881 census was written down wrong Emily Agnes was the daughter age 3yrs I have her birth certificate she was born in 1877, Agnes the mother was born in Hull Yorkshire ( census said Hall  York? Iwrote to a place in Beverley Yorkshire and they sent me Agnes' baptismal record. Father Charles Maguire Mother Ann Maguire nee Kelly Agnes was born 12th July 1849 and baptised at st Charles Borremeo R C Church Hull on the 13th

Hi, don't know what happened. I'll carry on from where I left off. I have birth certificates for both of Agnes's Children. Where it said mother's name.. One is spelt Maguire and the other McGuire.   Agnes couldn't write so she made a cross. The registrar must have spelt it both ways. When I got details of Agnes' birth from Beverely it was spelt Maguire, so I've used that spelling ever since. The name Emily came from the mother of Michael George,  Agnes'  husband. He just used his 2nd name George. His father was Michael Doyle and his mother Emily ( nee Hurley.) Tess
