Remember in the 1841 census ages of people over 15 were supposedly rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5.

Thanks.  Does it give the name of the church where they were baptised?  Especially the 1819 baptism would likely be in the same church where the parents were married in 1817, and be a strong indicator that I have the right Ruth.

Hi

There is a marriage in Duffield in 1817

John Walker married Ruth Waterfall 6 July 1817

He a bachelor she a spinster.

Claire

On familysearch ( Derbyshire Parish registers - you need to register (free) to see the actual PRs ) the marriage ( by banns) entry shows 2 witnesses, Sarah Waterfall and James Lowther ? ( his name appears on quite a lot of the records so maybe a church clerk etc). John and Ruth are shown of this parish (Duffield) and John, Ruth and Sarah all made a mark.

The entries on familysearch for the childrens baptisms come from Bishops Transcripts and they are shown as Church of England, Belper Chapelry in the parish of Duffield

Both good finds  :)

The church could possibly be St Alkmunds
